In this project we were asked to come up with a logo for a holiday of our choosing. I chose "National Love Your Pet Day." My original demographic was any gender, any age, anywhere that had pets. We were then challenged to narrow it down, so I went for "Love Your Pet Day" for anyone who loves dogs.

I originally had 3 concept sketches which I branched out from. The first set was based around typography and focused on the word "love." I wanted to add in accents in the form of pawprints and hearts.

The second set was based around pawprints and hearts with accents in the form of words.

The third set was based off of pet supplies and I experimented with cats and fish as well.

I decided on the second set, with the heart inside the paw. I used red as an accent color in order to keep the color scheme simple but bold. I originally had red in the pawprints but I felt it offset the entire phrase so I swapped it to white. I also made the lines a little thicker around the left side.

I used a free public domain font called Coaster which you can find here:

I feel the font gives the image a fun retro vibe and instills the feeling of running and playing with your dog.
