In this project we were required to create a book cover for a book of our choosing. I have recently been pretty into Stephen King books all thanks to the popularity of Stranger Things and the font Benguiat. This font has been featured on numerous Stephen King book covers so I decided to create a cover for It as an ode to Stephen King. We were given the template so I started out with a very simple concept. I wanted a limited color scheme with a minimalistic design.

I didn't like the way the string looked going all the way to bottom of the cover, so I added a transparency gradient to give it the effect that the balloon itself was floating up out of the dark. I also added a gradient to the balloon, give it both some depth and a spooky ominous feeling.
The next step was to add the title in a low opacity behind the summary text- just as an ominous reminder. I then added the summary text that I found on Stephen King's website. I created the barcode in Illustrator and then added the publisher's logo to the spine of the book. Here is an outline view.
And here is the final result.
Thanks for looking! Feel free to follow me if you'd like, and as always- appreciations are appreciated!
